Our Story

We met playing games. It was a Magic: The Gathering night in Leeds back in 2010. Like many people, our friendship group is centered around a shared love of gaming. We quickly discovered a shared love of games, from board games, trips to arcades, or nights playing a variety of games such as StarCraft 2, League, or Street Fighter.
Between us, we have decades of experience playing games. From the early days of gaming on a Commodore 64 with cassettes, and couch console experiences, to modern online gaming with games downloaded on fibre, Discord channels, and large platforms such as Steam.
During our gaming sessions, we would often talk about things we thought were unfair about gaming. Whether that was how gamers had a negative image in the media, the media or politicians that seemed to ignore our concerns, or chatting about a scammy cosmetic store in a game.
Then we saw the Stop Killing Games campaign take off. With over a million people signing the petition, we realised how many people are passionate about gaming in the UK, and how many want gaming to be fairer and even better. With threats to gaming increasing, whether that’s in government policies that force gamers to hand over personal ID to play games, proposed nigh time curfews for younger gamers, or publishers killing games we felt something needed to be done.
We wondered why there was no organisation that represented the interests of gamers in the UK. We saw that back in the 2010s some other people had tried to create an organisation, but it had closed down. So we figured we would give it a go ourselves. We are passionate about gaming, and want to build a community of people who feel the same way. If you feel the same way, then get involved.
Perhaps we all will make some friends along the way!
